Carriage House Horses

Oil on Canvas 48”w x30”h, no frame $2300

This is a grisaille (shades of gray) painting taken in part by a sculpture over the entrance of the Coach Museum at Versailles. Versailles is an assault of ornate visual overload, a really stunning experience.

Human Ocular Specimens

Oil on hardboard 8x8” framed in a shadow box
$750

This is a fantasy piece in that flesh eyes could never have been displayed this way. The many colors and some maladies of the eye are in this study. The idea for this took root after learning from a program on television that Dr. Mengele had collected eyes from his victims, one of the many atrocities reported.
Picture

Tip the Executioner

Oil paint on hardboard 36”w x 54”h,
43.5”w x 62”h framed $2790

The public spectacle of execution and the idea of procuring an experienced axe wielder is the subject here. I used the work of Lucas Cranch as reference for clothing. This is not Mary Queen of Scotts, but I did decide on a red dress because she chose that color to profess her innocence. An accusation is all that was needed.

Vampire Companions

Oil on Canvas 24”w x 36”h, 31.5w x 44”h  framed $1,330

Louis is an endearing character even though he is a vampire. After reading Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice I wanted to see them for myself. I used the work of Ingres as reference for Louis’s hair and clothing. A friend and his niece modeled. I bought a dress for the girl to wear and added details as described in the book for both characters.
